H.E. Macky Sall, the President of Senegal and current chairman of the African Union addressed the United Nations on Tuesday.
In his address he pointed out that terrorism, which is gaining ground on the continent, is not just an African matter.
President Sall called terrorism a global threat that falls under the primary responsibility of the Council.
He urged the Council to engage more with the African Union in the fight against terrorism in Africa, with more appropriate mandates and more substantial resources.
